Realistic pedigree?
For a story I'm writing, I needed an Oldenburg stallion for the main horse character. After asking on here and elsewhere, I finally womanned up and tried my hand at creating a good pedigree.
Ninette(1976) Gold Luck(1987)
Taylor's Gold Dust(1992) Gatsby(1999)
Taylor's Golden Laddybuck

Laddybuck is a bright bay with dark points
Taylor is silver bay

Any suggestions for better stallion or Taylor's pedigree?
Could Lad be realistically expected to jump, do dressage and drive?

When writing a fictional story, it is better to create a pedigree of fictional horses that were great or had trials but overcame the odds to success. Introduce your main character (who is fictional) and talk about the great achievements of their lineage, and the names in their pedigree are also fictional. It is better to not write fictional stories with implications of non-fiction horses in their pedigree, IMO.

I'm not going to be using the names of the horses, but I thought having a set pedigree would keep me from changing anything or being inconsistant. Honestly, It probably isn't going to be mentioned, just alluded to, but I like being thorough.

Then write it down, create a pedigree and comment on what each horse did/accomplished as a reference while writing your story. Writing out the background of characters and checking with your notes as you write will keep you consistent ;)
