Bay NC Appaloosa Colt is here!
we had a 50% chance for spots and lost :( But this boy is big(seriously big) , healthy and has a gorgeous face on him!
Phone pic for now he was born just after midnight.. and he and mom are bonding right now :)
Aw, so cute even if he doesn't have spots. I know almost nothing about appaloosa colouring. Is there a chance he could roan out at all?
Congrats on your baby!
nope no chance. he will stay bay like his dam. basically non characteristic horses are carriers for the LP gene but dont show it themselves. they an produce spots but dont show them :)
Ah, makes sense.
Nonetheless, I'm sure he will be a stunner. Those are some long legs!
the big guy is standing and nursing.. and HOLY CRAP is he big. His leg joints are taller than mommas (mom stands about 15.1)
Wow! Look at them legs!! Solid black-- still an awesome color! ;) ..or bay.. still awesome.. solid horses with no white are very flashy to me.
What color was the stud?
sire is a black leopard EEaa
Im pretty sure dam is AA as she has had all bay colts now.
I do have a weakness for a good solid bay!
haha, i suppose so..
you never bred her to a varnish roan yet?
