How's their weight?
Hi everyone! I was wondering if you could critique my two horses' weights. These were the best pictures I could get at the time, right now we are in a blizzard so they are all I have.
Cali: Coming 4yr, 14.3hh, 950lbs. 3rd on the pecking order
Caesar: 6yr APHA, 16hh, 1200lbs. Top dog on the pecking order. He has lost a LOT of weight already, last Summer vet said he had 75lbs left to lose. I can feel all of his ribs, not very well but I don't have to go digging for them.
Their weights are perfect!! They lack topline. Very gorgeous animals!
They look good to me!
personaly for me the first horse is underweight and has poverty lines, I'd want to see more weight on him.
The second horse is just about right, needs more muscle but certainly does not need to lose more weight.
I agree with Faye, I'd like to see a little more weight on the first one, second looks great and would be perfect if muscled up.
I'm working with the black on building muscle. He has gained a lot in the hindquarters already and we are working on strengthening his topline, which has also improved. I'm just very glad to hear we have finally reached his goal weight!
I would like to see some more weight on the chestnut, but the dark horse looks good. Just time to muscle them up! You could try adding rice bran to their diets- its a cost effective way to help them round out and it really gives them great coats!
The first one needs more weight, the second one needs muscling but wouldn't hurt to have a few more pounds added on.
First horse is on the thin side, second horse is just fine, no more or less in the weight department.
If the chestnut had his head straight, you wouldn't see such pronounced ribs. They both appear to be in the same condition.
