How do I know what grain is best???
OK, so I have one mare (5) and one gelding (9) and I am currently feeding wet cob ( 2 cups morning and night per horse) and North west Horse Supplement along with Grass hay morning and night and Orchard Blue grass night but was wondering if I need more nutrition going into the winter? Neither are hard to keep weight on but I don't want to over feed grain and make them sick. Any ideas are great!:D

I have not heard of the Northwest Horse Supplement can you get me the analysis, ingredients and feeding directions off of it??
no more cob then they are getting they probably don't even NEED it and it is VERY VERY high in sugars and starchs...
IMO the best diet you can have a horse on is hay or pasture and a good suppelemnt that adds the vitamin/minerals as welll as probios and amino acids

I am unsure of what COB is as well...glad that you started this thread Steph...I am in the process of looking for my first horse in 8 years and back 8 years ago I was not in charge of the feeding...my parents were...so I need info as well :D

COB is corn, oats and barley and is very very high is sugars and startches making it very hard to digest... it can also bring on a lot of other issues if feed at too high of amount ...
woohoo more conversions I will ge tto them tomorrow IF I have time LOL ..
