Show Halters
I have a nice show halter(it's not 500 dollars nice, but its not a piece of crap either) that I plan on using in showmanship. I've done a bit of research, and I've heard people say not to use medium oil colored halters, and that is what I have. Is it really that big of a deal if my halter isn't dark oil? I've put a lot of work into showmanship this year, and I wouldn't want to lose a class because my halter isn't the right color.

Before color, fit is most important. If it fits your horse's head properly and compliments him rather distracts from him, color is almost unimportant.

Thanks! I didn't think that color was too huge of a deal, as long as the halter is quality and fits well. It's not that light either, but it is definitely lighter than the norm.

Dark oil is what is in style as of right now. Then again its a western thing. One year its dark oil, the next its light.

Fit is the most important thing. Then go for whatever looks good on your horse. But mainly dark oil, I don't see many light oil, tan show halters. Only once.
