Lacey and some free-lunging action
I decided to free-lunge Miss Lacey this morning for funnsies and it would seem that she did indeed enjoy herself! :)
Her leg is finally all healed up and we've actually hit the trails a few times in the last two weeks. I'm very slowly reconditioning her and she's coming a long super well, there's basically a weekly difference in her musculature. Take that, old age! hahaha
Anyway, she needed to be worked today and she loves being free-lunged so we did that.
I noticed that the more I told her "good girl" the more she kept repeating the same things, and the more "fired up" she got while doing those things.....interesting. I've never tried "complimenting" her behavior while free-lunging before, but this session went a whole lot better than these sessions sometimes do. Sometimes it begins to feel a whole lot like I'm trying to lunge a cat. hahaha She very much seems to enjoy making ME work. haha!
Pre-running, all purtied up.
"I see what's going on here! You want me to HIDE behind these trees!!"
Apple tree blossoms. :)
Atticus decided to join in the action.
[he has tennis balls duct taped to hi horns to protect Lacey+Hazel from them]
Geez, Lacey. Could you be using your hocks annnnny more?
She was really enjoying herself!
Any then [this is not the best picture ever but it's the only one I got of this], Atticus decided to start running in circles around the pasture...only his circles were half in the lunging pasture and half in the usual pasture - he was leaping through the high tensile wire each time. haha!
Someone's fired up!
Stupid trees, getting in the way of my perfect picture! haha
I just love her QH-y booty! hahaha
When I decided to stop, I left the pasture and opened the gate so she could come out...but she stayed in there and stared at me through the fence like "that was fun! Let's do it again!"
Silly old lady!! :)
Thanks for looking!!
Lacey is lovely as always! It is crazy how good she looks for her age. Our 28 year old is having problems with his weight. But Lacey looks great!
Yup, she's a chunky girl, for sure! haha I think part of her "luck" is that, even at 28, she still has all her teeth. The other thing is probably that she was retired from the time she was 10 until I got her when she was 23, maybe her body will thinks it's ten? haha!
Or maybe it's just unicorn power. That's what all my friends say.
Great pics looks like she is feeling good!! Now I'm really feeling sorry for myself seeing that nice green grass & appleblossoms:shock: Sigh... Don't think we'll ever see spring:-(
She looks great! and your photography is always a pleasure to look at. Do you use a filter to get that deep of color saturation?
My friend, whose arab mare looks like Lacey's doppleganger, rode her up til 28. She had an injury from her youth that finally got to be toomuch for her to be ridden regualraly.
Good stuff - the apple blossom photo is quite spectacular.
great photos, what fantastic tail she has!!!
Wonderful happy photos! She looks like a 10 year old.
Aww, I'm sorry, painted! Spring will come, I promise! :) It came really early for us this year. Usually we're getting our first cherry blossoms and such a few weeks before now, but not this year! haha
Thanks Caroline! I did increase the saturation a little tiny bit while I was editing, but not a whole bunch. It's crazy green out there, almost makes my eyes hurt! Here's a totally unedited one of Atti, so much grass!
I was pretty sure that 28 was going to be Lacey's no-more-riding year too, but I guess not! She has other ideas, apparently. haha
Thanks Cheaux! :)
Thanks Cherrij! Her tail is my BABY. :lol:I'm finally starting to feel really happy with it. When I got her 5 years ago, it was all ratty and yellowed...now it's just sort of yellow and thick as all get out. It's my favorite! haha
Thanks Dustbunny! :)
