Can protective boot be colors?

Can protective boots be colors other than black, white, or brown when showing in a reining event?

I haven seen skid boots in many colors so I'm taking front boots. What is and isn't allowed in protective gear? Lol

Or does it depend on which events your running?

I'm just thinking while dreaming of my future reining horse! I like horse shopping, and like taking my time looking, and I don't want to fall in love with the first horse I see... And my budget makes shopping a bit harder..... But I still cannot wait to go out and have some fun! :-(

I do not believe there is any rule in reining where the horse boots have to be a certain color, or that you even have to wear boots at all.

However, I would say that the STYLE right now is white boots, because that's what you see the pro's using.

That's what I thought.... I also figure I could use colored boots but I'm really going to stick out... So my horse and I better bring our A game or else that attention won't be such a good thing....lol

There is no set rule on color however there is a rule of thumb. If your horse is a nice mover/good turns you use white if not so much you use black.

I've seen youths with coloured boots, but even then they stick with navy, hunter green, etc.

I think black, white or brown boots (depending on horse's colour) look much cleaner.

Does wearing the black boots make it obvious to the judges that you are worried about how they move?

White is classy;)

I say use all the color you want!! .... at home

Good to know about the movement and the black and white thing, totally makes sense now that I think about it!

Are the white boots super hard to keep clean? I look at them in the tack shop and think, hmmm.... Nothing else at the barn stays white for more than roughly 3.5 minutes, soooo.... I do love how they look though. I have thought, also, could white theoretically keep the tendons cooler than black or another dark color?
