Its hard for me to see him in that picture-- hes definitely downhill- longer back- lacks topline- neck is under muscled- straight forlegs- i like his feet! Like his ears- cute compact head.

I would like to see him square. :-P

whats downhill mean exactly?...i mean he looked a ton worse when i first purchased him...and my trainer (who is amazing and perfect..65 years old..40 years experience and gentle) even says he will be amazing once he is in shape

I think he'll look nice when he's all rehabbed and working in his new job.

Downhill is a reference to the natural balance a horse has. When a RIDING horse is level it is said to be "perfect" in balance (also considered "perfect" would be slightly uphill)... And downhill is generally preferred for race horses or horses which are expected to put on bursts of speed (so TB and QH sprinters would usually be more downhill than a distance racer, who would be typically more downhill than a riding horse). It is said that when a horse is level or even a little uphill they will have less difficulty reaching true collection.

When we look for balance the "scientific" way of doing it is to draw a line from the point of hip to the lower cervical curve of the horses neck (this is usually the widest part of the neck, near the shoulder) ... If you look at this photo, he is near level, but might be a little downhill if his hinds were less stretched out behind him.
