My young QH started over jumps
This is our latest lesson from yesterday. I bought him in July of 2012, and before that he was ridden a small handful of times since he was broke as a 2 year old (started western reining). Please let me know what you think. He is a Quarter Horse and will be 5 next month. I really enjoy hunter/jumper, so I introduced him to that and he seems to take to it well. He is pretty good with landing on the correct lead. Maybe 1 out of 10 he lands wrong. I love how balanced he feels too. :) Just love him. Please critique!
Does he seem like he is coming along well? Any advice of what to introduce next?
seems to me like he might make a pretty nice lower level hunter. I like that he's pretty quiet, doesn't rush the base of the fences, and looks like he enjoys the job. Remember to keep jumping fun and confidence building for babies. If you fry them early, it's tough to undo.
Thank you that's great to hear! I was hoping to start some hunter classes with him :) my other guy is only 14h and I look tall on him, so I've only been able to do jumpers.. I love my instructor she keeps me in mind that Cowboy is a baby and she works at his comfort level. He was broke by a reining trainer and he really fussed about what was expected of him, and I swear he seems to really enjoy this 100x more!
