Hi everyone! My problem that i'd like to ask advice on is how i should switch trainers.
My previous trainer was coming to my barn every day helping me work with my horse Squaw. We've taken the winter off, and now im starting to get back out and retrain. there is a trainer across the road who i'd like to use but that would mean retraining my horse into a different style of training. My horse was being worked with Down Under Horsemanship (Clinton Anderson style). She still remembers the basics, but its kind of hard for a 13-almost-14 year old to reteach seeming as this is my first training expirence. and i like DUH. I dont want to learn a different way either.
but anyways, my trainer got a new job training horses all day 5 days a week, so he's unable to work with me.
Plus, the trainer across the road (Julie), works strictly on English riding. she is willing to teach Western and all but she knows more English (mostly dressage and jumping).
I just dont know what to do. im hoping someone can advise me on this choice or how to teach DUH on my own.
Thank you in advance!

feel free to ask any questions to get the details on the situation, if it would help anyone answer! :)
Your horse does not know the difference between Clinton and Pat. Your horse knows how you work, and some other person should not confuse you or your horse. Ask her questions if you get confused.
What are your plans? Showing? Pleasure riding? I teach mostly English myself. I will teach Western riding but I would by no means consider myself a WP show trainer, for example. I know enough about Western riding to teach somebody to sit in the saddle and make the horse move properly...and that's about it. So, it depends on what you're wanting to do, which trainer you need to pick.
DUH puts a good base on your horse. Now, do with it what you like. No training has to be exclusive of all others. It just gives you more options. If you want to ride English-go with the trainer across the street. If not, stick with the one you have.
I didn't recall PP mentioned either...but I would not allow anyone that practiced his nonsense touch my horse.
eh-not all that different from the rest. They all use the same basic concepts, IMO.
Palogal- my plans are showing.
Franknbeans- my original one can't help me anymore. :|

Oh well you need a trainer for the discipline you plan to show in. If you're not into English and that's what the other trainer does, you need to find another one.
