Hello all! So this is kind of embarrassing...But when I ride, I tend to sweat, a lot, and it stains the saddle. It wouldn't be a big deal if it were my own saddle, but I'm taking lessons and using their tack. What can I do? I've tried riding in a sanitary pad but that just bunched up and was extremely uncomfortable. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

And I thought it was just me! I ride western and have the same problem.
(Do you ride english or western?)
I never noticed it when I just had a dark brown saddle. But now I have a couple of lighter saddles (medium oil) and the sweat marks show. I'm not sure if it's just sweat or if it is also friction from my jean seam.
I'm not sure if anything can be done about it. Anyone else have any ideas?
I've never known a saddle to stain from a sweaty butt, unless maybe the seat is suede or a light oil. The only thing I can recommend is to make sure you wear cotton clothing and try powder and/or aerosol antiperspirant in addition to what you're doing now.
I always keep powder in the trailer for my boots. Makes them easy to slip on & off and keeps them dry. When we haul to shows where it is ungodly hot & humid where there is nothing as fun as wearing jeans, chaps, and a long sleeve shirt,I have dumped some down my pants and even in my bra. It worked quite well.

Thanks for your replies! I'm glad I'm not the only one! I ride both english and western but the western saddle that I use is black suede so it doesn't affect it. I'll have to try the baby powder. My mom swears by it for everyday use, but I didn't consider it for riding! I'll let everyone know how it works out! Thanks!

Wear cotton underwear. Wear breeches or pants that are lightweight and breathe. Polyester is the worst. Cotton and cotton blends rule. And there's always anti Monkey Butt powder. Haven't used it, but it's always on the shelf at the check-out counter at the feed-store. Anti Monkey Butt*Powder | Walgreens

First welcome to the forum. I use gold bond for that same reason ,it real works the best for me and covers the sweat smell :)

I watch saddles sell on ebay as a hobby (um... tack addict?), and I have to say, I see a LOT of saddles with the sweaty crotch mark. So I guess it's pretty common!
I have a question for you baby powder/gold bond people: Where exactly do you put the powder? On the saddle? Down your undies?!

You can always buy a saddle cover! ;) they have many different types.

You put the powder in your underwear...silly!!! It's meant to prevent rubbing and chafing, but it works for sweat, too.
