Glaucoma-Very worried
Hi, my horse had old injury to eye when I got him 6 months ago. Various vets have checked him, he still had sight, just had cloudy area in lower part of eye. Didn't bother him no big deal. As a precaution his eye was stained and antibiotic was given to make sure no infection.

Had check-up this weekend with Vet for Spring. She saw changes in eye and some small changes in other eye. He can still see out of both, doesn't appear to be in pain and doing everything normally.

Consult with opthalmologist. Looks like glaucoma, my Vet said we can try medications, but said she was sorry, so that made me very worried. I've only had him 6 months, got him off feedlot, worked very hard putting weight back on him, getting teeth floated, immunizations up to date, getting his hooves back to normal, and am still working with trainer on riding and such. He's 17 years old.

If anyone can offer any insight on glaucoma in a horse, good or bad, I would appreciate it. I'm a little rocked by it right now, I love this horse, he's my first, and no matter what the outcome will be, I'm happy I have him and he has me. Thank you all for any advice, I feel like crying.

I don't know about glaucoma in a horse but I have had it for about 5 years. I use drops and it keeps the pressure down. I have to use them every day. I sure hope drops work on your horse.
