Registering a horse

This may be a dumb question but I really don't know the answer. I was wondering if I could register my horse. I don't know who her parents are I don't even know what she was doing or where she was before the person before me bought her. Also I don't really know what kind of horse she really is :( . We thought we could register with american paint horse association but I'm pretty sure we can't. Getting her registered isn't really a big deal just thought if i could some way I would in case i ever wanted to breed her. thanks for letting me know.

You could register her as PtHA, the pinto horse registry puts together some great show opportunities and will allow registration for mares and geldings with unknown lineage but it will cost more to register.

I agree with Sunny, Pretty little mare though. I like her little faded snip(:

From my understanding, a horse is un-register-able unless one or both parents are registered. With not knowing either parent or even her breed, there is no registering her.
Although some 'color' registries like PHBA (Palomino Horse Breed Association), I believe, there is a possibility of registering with a bunch of 'IF's' but I could be wrong though.
But with not knowing anything about her past and if she has no tattoos, brands or any other man-made mark, it's next to none getting her registered. Sorry to be of not so good news.
Papers don't change the value of your horse to you and she is probably a great horse ;-) We do like pictures here too by the way ;-)

Edit: I must type slow, LOL. Forgot about PtHA!! That is a perfect possibility! She sure is pretty :-)

Definitely PtHA would work. It is fairly reasonable and would give you some great show opportunities.

Do you have any information at all from her previous owner as to possible sire/dam? If so, I could try to do a lookup for you in case her APHA papers were lost in the shuffle.

Here is a link to the application for PtHA:

Undocumented registration fee is $125, you also need to send in a ton of pictures of your mare, both sides, front, back (my mom even had to send one of the underside of her filly's chin to show her white chin when she was double registering her half Arab pinto filly)

Thank you guys so much I might try PtHA for the show opportunities (even tho I don't really think she will be ready for shows but I never know) But you guys are right her having papers or not doesn't change anything. She will always be my big baby. :)

The guy I bought her from had about 10 horses and they were all trail horses for a camp but the camp closed down so he was selling them. These horses weren't taken good care of they were skinny and had BAD feet! I do know the guy that sold him the 10 trail horses (we were going to buy the camp from him) and that guy is very old and didn't even remember he had horses at his camp :( So their is know way I could get any more info on her but thats ok :) I still love her! Thank you for wanting to help :)
