Need Your Thoughts & Prayers
The worse thing has happened, Maddie has been diagnosed with
the disease Parvo. I noticed she wasn't her usual happy go lucky self
two days ago and on top of that vomiting and refusing to drink or eat.
Like a good mommy, I IMMEDIATELY took action and took her to the
vet right away. The vet said if the parvo is in the land, there is
nothing you can really do about it except keep the dog up to date
on vaccinations, she already had a shot for Parvo and it was time
for another round of shots for her and Scooter when she got it.
What's weird is my grandpa's girlfriend's 10 wk. old puppy died from
Parvo two days ago, and him and Maddie has never been around
each strange. Also, it is contagious so my Scooter
boy has went to stay with my mother until Maddie is fully recovered
(giving her an IV treatment at home) and I lysol the entire house.

She is ok though, just very very weak, the IV injection keeps her
hydrated and she can drink water when she goes 24 hrs. without
vomiting. On top of that she has diarrhea also.

My husband has also been sick puking and the whole nine yards,
oh God hopefully it's not the flu! I have a sick dog. I have
a sick husband. UGH.

Please pray for my Maddie though that she will recover and life
will go on normally for her and us, she means the absolute world
to me and the hubby. She is my baby.

Parvo and other viruses can stay alive along time. That's why most vets will tell you NOT to take your dog to places like Petsmart. One sick dog can sicken so many ...... Supermarket shopping carts, door handles .... anything someone can touch who has a sick dog YOU touch and take home to your pup.

Courtesy says spread the word in your neighborhood so that other owners can booster their pets if they are close to due. Bleach water everything your pup plays with, and her living area. get her space ready for her to come home. We'll keep our fingers crossed that she pulls through.

Modern vet practices give her a fair shot to pull through - but there are no guarantees.

Many puppy vaccinations start at 4-6 weeks ( depending on brand and type modified/live virus) and every two weeks after that until a certain age..... 16 weeks maybe? My guys all came to me very young ( Herbie was 5 weeks) and it was a PITA every two weeks.

very good advice dash!!!!!, my puppy had parvo and we spent over $500.00 in vet charges to get the dog bake to health.....i could of save my self the $500.00 and bought the shots for $14.00 and done it my self....when we went to get our new labadoodle puppy last friday we went to the vet and bought the shots (even though it was claimed that she had her shots already) and gave them to her before she got out of our truck at's sad that maddie has it but just remember to vaccanate any other dog you will get ...
