Is this a stupid idea?
I'm 18, graduating highschool soon, and I plan on taking a semester off before starting college. During that time I really want to volunteer at the Return to Freedom American Wild Horse Sanctuary and do the work study program. The problem is, the sanctuary is in California. I live in Pennsylvania. Is this a crazy idea?
Well I suppose that depends. Is there housing and financially substantial employment available? Do you intend to school in California? I'd suggest not just taking off on a whim, but could it be a good life experience? Absolutely! Good or bad our lives make us who we are. Though I wouldn't go taking off to the other side of the country all willy nilly.

I don't think its necessary a bad idea, if you can afford living ect. I would attend a school out there of some sort and start your generals or something though. A lot of people have trouble going back when they take off a semester.

Not a stupid idea at all, just think it through.
Where will you be staying? How will you pay for housing? What about transportation?
