What do you guys classify as 'Country'?

Well lately I havegrown fed up with the people at school. They [the general redneck population] keep saying to me that I'm a fake, wanna be redneck. But I'm NOT trying to be a redneck, I wear my horse boots to school and my belt and sometimes a BuckedUp jacket but its not to impress anyone, I just love wearing those things and most of the time after school I go to work with the horses.

Anyways, I was wondering what do you guys define as 'country'? I generally think that there are two types.

Western: Working on farms/ranches, working with cattle/livestock, hunting, fishing, farming

Southern: Mudding, Hunting, Fishing, The beach, Jacked-up trucks, Camo.

I'm not sure if this makes sense to anyone but its just something thats been bothering me lately.
Thanks,

-Lu

Kids are immature. Ignore them.

Don't let people define you. Be who you are, wear what you like.

I grew up in your "southern" category, but I was considered "Country, when country wasn't cool" ...

Tell them you aren't a "wanna-be" anything. You are who you are even if you don't fit into their IDEA of a CATEGORY.

*hugs*

People in high school will ALWAYS be looking to form cliques and tease other people for not fitting in or wanting to be "wannabes". It's seems you can't wear a black shirt without being "gothic" or a polo without being "preppy" or a plaid shirt without being a "red neck". Sigh. Wear what your comfortable in, for me its was t-shirt, jeans and sneakers. I really never cared what anyone thought about what I wore.

Get away from labels and just be YOU!

True, I don't really hang out with the'Redneck' crowd, they do too many bad things and drugs, so I just hang with who I want to, but in no way am I a wannabe lol.

If you're not dressing to impress anyone, why do you care that you're not? What makes their opinion mean something to you? They tell you you're fake, say thanks for taking the time to lower themselves to speaking with you to point it out and move on.

I've never heard of anyone say that being called a redneck was a good thing anyway.

If it were me I'd say "Who wants to be a redneck anyway?". If you got called that in my high school (long island, ny) it was pretty serious. I can't believe people actually embrace the label. Lol

Country is a state of mind in my opinion.

If I were to define it, (This would be my American Version) I would say...

Strong Patriotism, Religious, and family values, a loyalty to friends, family, God, and country, and a love of the land....

To me, that's Country.... But that's MY opinion...

Ignore it, in 10 years time they will all realise that image means nothing. Be who you are, ignore the talking from blinkered people you will likely never see again after school and live life for who you are.

I was never cool in school, my friends were "quality and not quantity" - now that I'm out in the world, I don't pass a second thought of those back in school who didn't have a positive effect on my life.

this is why i loved going to school in uniform, there is no judging of what we are wearing
