What color hoof polish?

I always just left my horses hoofs blank, since I typically always forget to buy some hoof polish. He has 4 white socks so I was going to do clear but several people have told me to use black. What color should I pick?

Personally I would do black, because I feel it looks fancier. the choice is yours though!

Are you showing open or breed shows? Some breed shows do not allow black. Otherwise I think it is your prefrence.

Thanks! I will choose black, it is an open show!

What color are his feet? I think black on white feet would look awful. I would use clear. That always just gives a nice polished NATURAL look.

Black on white feet does not look nice at all. Clear polish on white feet, black on black feet.

Adding to say that one of my horses has rear coronets and the black hooves don't look bad at all. Sometimes it's hard to see if clear hooves have even been polished at all in a deep arena, and the pop of black to prove they were polished might be the judges deciding factor in showmanship....just my two cents ;-)

His hoofs have no black in them at all.

If he has white hooves, I would stick with clear. You don't want him to look like he has boots on, do you?

If white hoofs are polished properly its easy to tell they have been done. Black polish on white feet with white socks looks horrid. If you do the polish properly clear polish on white feet is a very nice finished look.
