Unsticking Muck Buckets?
I keep 4 muck buckets around my barn and stack them to save space... But they keep getting stuck and it is REALLY hard to get them unstuck.
Is there an easier way to get them unstuck or a way to prevent them from sticking?
Oh, I know the pain! The buckets at my barn are always stuck too. I always end up dragging around two buckets stuck together. :-P
What kind of material are your buckets made of? I find the ones that are straight plastic are very brittle in the winter, and especially if there's water in them, tend to stick very badly. They're also prone to crack. I use the ones made of rubber. They don't stick as much and can't crack.
Also, make sure to dump the buckets and keep them dry before stacking them. Otherwise the water at the bottom freezes and sticks to the bucket above it. Hope this helps! :-)
As much as I've tried to think up a great way to prevent this problem...I can't seem to find a great soloution. Like Jubliee said the water causes a vaccume or they just plain freeze together. Anymore I just don't stack them....
If your alone there is only one way to do it. Sit on the ground or on a short stool. Place one foot on each side of the bottom bucket and pull on the top bucket. After you pick your self up out of the manure, make a silent promise to yourself that you will never stack the plastic buckets together ever again. Or you could just buy the rubber ones. They are much easier to bend and work them apart then the plastic.
I wonder if you gave them a light spray of Pam (nonstick cooking spray)or WD40 it might help hmmm
LOL Vida!!! That is precisely why I no longer stack them!!!
Grease em up, lol. I don't know, that might get a little messy. But isn't that what being in the barn is all about? Getting a little messy, lol.
