Shapley's EquiTone Shampoo - Fabulous or a Flop??

Just curious, anyone ever tried their EquiTone shampoo? I currently use Quic Black and find that it does absolutely nothing for my buckskin's black and ORANGE sun-bleached tail. It claims it gets the red out, but I haven't noticed it doing anything except turning my fingers purple!

So looking to try something else...so does anyone have any experience with Shapley's for a sun-bleached supposed-to-be-black-but-is-hideously-orange-instead tail??

I've never used that shampoo, just subbing to see what other remedies are possible. I also have a buckskin with a bleached tail and forelock. :?

Anyone?? Kayella, have you ever tried dyeing your buckskin's tail black? I have  It's a terrible pain because you can't get the dye on ANYTHING else since a buckskin, as we know, is NOT black in body color HA! I don't really want to go that route anymore, done it a few times and it's such a pain and just washes out eventually/sun bleaches again anyhow.

I need to figure out the best product to PROTECT from sun bleaching as well, if anyone has any recommendations. If I can avoid it in the first place, I won't have to worry about turning it back to black again ;)

I've thought about dyeing his tail black, but I can't see that going well LOL. One swish of the tail and I have black dye all over his side. No thank you!! It's even worse because he's a Paint with a lot of chrome

Yeah you pretty much need a helper who can swat at flies FOR the horse, otherwise that is exactly what will happen, and it's impossible to hold every strand of hair in that tail to prevent it from happening!! Then you can't wipe it off on your own because you're busy keeping it from happening MORE - my mare ended up with a few black streaks on her butt from that haha!!

But I must say, after it was dyed, it looked mighty fine!! Went from looking like this...(you can kinda see it in this pic, although trust me it looks MUCH worse in person than it even looks in this one!)...

Subbing as well. I have a sunbleached black gelding that I was thinking of trying it on, would love to hear any ratings on it
