Rest In Peace Sweet Pony...

Recently we lost a little Shetland Pony at our barn named Kachina...It breaks my heart to think about her. We lost her to Cushings...Here's her story.

Lord knows how many years ago we rescued that sweet pony from the kill pen. She was on her way to death row, but we just couldn't pass her up. She was way too cute, and had the most loving gaze. So we acquired a pony that we never thought could teach us so much.

After having her for just a few weeks, we managed to learn that she had cushings...so we werent really sure how long she would live. Though that was a long time ago. So we made the best of everything, and me and my close friend (we are both in our teens) showed her in halter, showmanship, in hand trail, and driving classes. She usually placed within the top four.

Not only was she a great little show pony but she was also a therapeutic pony as well. She helped hundreds of kids in so many ways that I can't describe. She made visits to schools with the disabled kids and was loved by everyone because she was such a small size and so non threatening.

The most important thing that she ever accomplished was touching the heart of a three year old little girl. Since this little girl was born she has been in love with Kachina since she was introduced to horses. All the time she would look at her mom and say "Mommy can we get Kachina out, I want to ride with the big girls" When Kachina passed on, the little girl looked at us in utter confusion. Even so a week later she asked us to go see Kachina....we had to re explain to her that Kachina was in a better place and was no longer "ouchy"

Rest in Peace sweet Kachina...eat all the hay, lush green grass, and grain that your little tummy can take in. I'm glad you are no longer restricted by cushings. <3

We will miss her so much...she brought so much laughter to us. She would run around her pasture and get the other horses started on running. Yet when someone was on her, she wouldn't canter for her life. <3
