Here's my newest horse, Avery. He's a 5 year old OTTB that I picked up from Camelot this past March. For those who haven't heard of Camelot, it's a feed lot/auction house in New Jersey. They have a group of volunteers who use their FB page to find horses new homes weekly. I don't have much information about Avery's past other than his on track record. I name my horses after real life pirates. Henry Avery (Every) is considered to be the "King of the Pirates" since he was never caught and was able to retire, I felt it was appropriate to name him after this pirate since he escaped possibly being slaughtered. Before Camelot he went through New Holland...
Avery has been a diamond in the rough! He's not a typical TB, he's very laid back and easy going under saddle. Already he knows how to ride from your seat and takes just a little encouragement to bend. He's sweet, sweet, sweet. Treat hound and is always ready to give kisses. I originally bought Avery for as a training prject to sell through Second Chance, but he's staying. I can't give this guy up!
Without further ado, this is Avery:
The first week out of quarantine, looking a little rough.
Working with SCS' trainer, Kimberly
He held his bridle for Kimberly when her and I had a conversation about him, and he fell asleep. lol.
He's soo much darker now then since this picture was taken, but here's the view. :D
Here he is yesterday, not amused with his new fly mask.
Very nice looking boy! Love the naming practices!

He's an absolutely stunner! Great find!(:
Avery is a very handsome boy!
I've always followed the Camelot auction. Staying up late on Wednesdays nights to watch the horses go up. Don't know why I do it as I am in no place to adopt one, yet.
Thanks guys! I got extremely lucky since I bought him sight unseen and only had one picture. Definitely in love with this guy.
The last horse to roll through SCS was Edward Teach, aka "Blackbeard". We called him Eddie. Most of my horse stuff is either in SCS colors or has jolly rogers on it, some have both. Love the pirate theme. It's fun.
I'm always so nervous I'll purchase a beginner/intermediate horse and end up with a green as grass one.
I'm definitely looking into it though. :)
I felt they did a pretty good describing him. They did neglect to add that he was stocked up. He had a pretty swollen back right that I had our vet look at when we got home and it went away once he was able to move around. I think he spent his time tied up.
If you want a second opinion about a horse, you are more than welcome to PM me here or ask me through my FB page: Second Chance Sporthorses.
