Advice on my posting please
Was hoping to get some advice on my posting. As mentioned in previous post, I feel very clunky and heavy. Not really feeling like I am posting forward and back but rather, up and down. This makes my hands move up and down and my legs flapping out. Also, how can I keep my leg still?

thank you for posting the video. it helps so much more than words.
You don't post as badly as you made out. And, the horse's movement is not the issue, at all. in fact, the horse is a very nice horse and is giving you a really nice, even and rythmic and energetic trot, so we cannot blame him at all.
What I see (kind of grainy images) is that your stirrup is too long , for one, and your elbows are so stiff that you are really riding off of his mouth much too much. In fact, i would say that you are perhaps balanceing off his mouth, maybe. just a bit.
shortenign your stirrup a bit sot that you can get your leg back under you more, carry you own weight balanceed over your whole leg, not just your thigh, will help you be better able to move independently and not need the reins for balance at all.
Hvae you ever done lungline lessons without reins?
When you become more independent , you can soften your elbows more, which means that your hands can stay with the horse, while you move as you need to.
to do that, you have to be able to move your elbow, openning and closing it as you go up and down.
The horse will give you even more, lighter , more rounded movement if he can feel more consistent and forgiving contact in the mouth.
I can see that sometimes you are posting slower than you should, so you are bopping his back . Look at the pace of his trot, and the pace of your posting and you can see that your tempo is a bit slower than the trot. It needs to be just being carried along at the same speed , unless you are trying to slow him down.
Her, I mean, it's a mare, right?
Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it.
Yes, it is a "her". She has tons of forwardness which is both awesome but at the same time can take all my strength to hold her back. She's only been under saddle for six months and we are still learning tempo.
I think raising the stirrups one notch will help. Agree with that idea. Funny, because I just dropped them one notch! But I did feel more balanced with them shorter but was trying to get more "leg" on her to get her to bend.
Thanks again for the feedback!
Well, she is really a lovely horse. is she yours?
Thanks Tiny, yes she is mine. Saw her video and bought her sight unseen without even riding her. Tries her heart out to please even for only just being five years old. Very athletic from the TB yet the gentle Percheron attitude. I simply got very lucky in finding her.
