Ramping it up
It was time to up the training. Horse got a good workout in the pen with lots of turnbacks. He kept trying to come in but no, he was pushed on. I wanted him puffing. When he was allowed to come in he stood quietly when saddled. He wanted to rest. He was then asked to move up to the mounting block and he tho't he'd get away with spooking. It didn't work as he had to work again, and again and again until he realized his behaviour wasn't gaining ground for him. Once he was alongside the block, he was allowed to relax. His memory seemed rather short so he wound up working again. Just a reminder of what will happen. This time he was content to stand and rest and not play the spooky game. He was then asked to side pass around the pen and at first he wasn't sure what to do but was allowed his mistakes. When he got the hang of it, he did it beautifully, both sides. yeeaahh
