How can we forget this guy?

I've noticed that no one has made a thread about the Texas bred 1946 Triple Crown winner. He may have been plaqued by illness and injuries but he over came it all. To this day the Triple Crown winner remains the only Texas bred Triple Crown winner. His name was Assault, many called him the Clubbed-footed Comet because he had a deformed hoof. He was retired at the age of seven after which he was found to be infertile. Assault race 42 times and won 18 times, including the Triple Crown. He was a decendant of Fair Play, the sire of the mighty Man O' War.

If you have anything else you want to share about this great horse then feel free to share.
