Never had a white horse.. help me out? What are some things that I can do to keep her looking a bit more clean? I know I won't be able to keep her completely white but I dont want her to look like she's never seen a brush:) also, she has pink skin? How can I care for that during the summer? How can I prevent burning on her legs and face and nose? I'll upload pictures of her when I get home after this weekend. Thanks guys! :)

White horses don't necessarily get any dirtier than a brown horse, they just show it more. I have a 50/50 paint...but his white is on his legs, belly, etc. primarily. His legs have a permanent tint to them, but I usually use Quik Silver (whitening shampoo, that is actually purple) a few times a year. I keep him in a fly sheet for both the pink skin, which can sunburn, and to keep some of the dirt off of him. I would definitely get a fly sheet with UV protection for summer months, and a good turnout blanket for the rest of the time. That will keep some of the dirt off of your horse.

One thing I've noticed is that my horse, and 2 others with white legs are much more prone to scratches on their legs. Mine is just getting over it. It didn't matter how hard I tried to keep him from getting them, being turned out in the northwest/wet climate it was just inevitable. I just keep cleaning his legs and treating it.

Just a nice currying and then brushing off that dust with a nice medium brush. Elbow grease is what keeps Sky looking bright white. Lasersheen or Cowboy magic doesn't hurt to spray on from time to time though

Hello! My name is Justine and I live in France. Sorry I don't speak english very well.

I have a grey mare and she always looks dirty although I brush her all the time. She has pink skin too on her muzzle so I use sunscreen for prevention (as Stevenson said) and when her skin getting burnt I put BIAFINE.

I love Banana Boat Sunscreen because it also keeps their skin soft and moisturized. Zinc Oxide is effective but doesn't moisturize as well, so if the skin is already dried and burnt, then it doesn't help it soften.
