Pooping in her water?!?!?!?!

ok so we have auto waters in the stalls .. yesterday i was out cleaning Maddy's stall and i noticed that she pooped in her water ... it was nasty, cold and smelled!
Anyone delt with this before or know why horses do this? I mean she has tons of room to walk around, it's not like she can't poop anywhere else ... also there was no residue on the top of the water or the bucket, like she had really good aim ... lol ... any ideas?

My older guy George does this from time to time. I think they just don't look to see where their butt is..... LOL Their aim is quite amazing isn't it. My only worry would be if they went all night without a water source.

LOL yeah, sometimes they don't aim so good when going #2! At my old barn, there was a horse who did it on the wall of his stall...yeah, not a pretty site. Took awhile to clean too. LOL!

yeah i was shocked at how good she was at leaving no trace .. she is in the pasture during the day so she gets water out there thank goodness .. she's a treat! lol

Maybe she just wanted her water container cleaned???? LOL

It is amazing how they can do some things. I have a stock trailer so instead of windows is has open bars... Chloe will push her butt up there and poop, so as Im driving poop is flying!!!! Im sure the drivers behind me love that!!!

LOL.. My little one (Ember) has a huge habit of pooping up against her gate, and dropping it on the other side.. Leaves cute attachments to the bars! LOL! I dont mind it, as its easier to pick up!

Yea, it happens from time to time - there is not much you can do about it other then clean it out. I have actually seen it happen in action a few times  Let's just say when they are in there stalls they tend to be lazy and don't want to move from where they are standing and they just go no matter what is right there. Silly critters
