Two more poems...

A short one and a long one.

The short one first...
"The Forest"

The whisper of the forest
Echoes through the trees
Far above the roots
And deep below the leaves
It rustles loose the birds
Who soon explode with flight
It makes the soil tremble
Even in the dark of night

And the long one... I'd like to know if it makes sense to you.

"The Trumpet" (yeah...I'm not much for titles)

Along the shore crept a ship
from nowhere it should seem
as the crowd of rich and poor
await the floating dream.

The mass of folk began to cheer
as the ship pulled round.
The wives and children ran to see
their men and fathers found.

Amidst the joy there came a silence
with sadness it goes often.
A flag of heroes lies upon
a tattered wooden coffin.

A blaze of noise broke the silence
and played a saddened song.
Their heads bowed down in sudden sorrow
not knowing what went wrong.

"For whom did the trumpet play?"
was the question on their faces
but they looked beyond the wooden mass
and saw a hundred other cases.

A trumpet played
but not for one man.
An army it did seem.

The worste of war
was brought to them.
In fact it was no dream.

Makes perfect sense to me. From what I could read through the tears anyway. LOL :,,) That is really good. You should really look into somewhere to publish these. If nothing else, you could maybe get them put into a compilation book with lots of other authors.

Thank you. Sometimes I worry if other people understand it...I tend to get carried away and they won't always pop out making sense to others.

Thank you again!

Fortunately, I had a very good english/literature teacher in high school and we always read things that were very symbolic and complex. Yours is better than some that we read then.

Thank you. I was lucky too in high school. My British literature teacher was FANTASTIC. She also had a minor in Art so she was very hands on with projects and stuff ...and thats how I learn best. So basically that class was the perfect combination between my two favorite things...Literature and Art.
