How big to ride mini?
So I think I might be buying a mini pony for my other pony. I'm 13 and I'm like 105-110 but I thought little short rides around the house on her or something, am I to big for her? She is 10.3. If I'm to big for her i was going to have her pull a cart. Thanks:-)

You are absolutely too big to ride a mini. Minis should only be ridden by the tiniest of little kids.

Ok thanks. I'll just have her pull a cart for me:D

If she is 10.3 hands she is not a mini...
But I would still think your are too big for her.

10.3 is way too big to be a mini, mini's are 38" and under. But yes, you are still too big. I rode my 10.2 shetland until I was 12, but I was only about 70 lbs. Minis are not meant to be ridden.

That all depends on what she actually is. If she is a mini and you're mistaken on the height absolutely not BUT many small pony breeds could easily carry 105 - 110 lbs for short rides. I know well balanced riders bigger than that who have successfully trained ponies for children, it isn't ideal but it was done without detriment.

Too big :( Go for the cart! I can't ride my mini but riding on a cart is almost more fun :)

Miniatures can pull much more than they can hold on their backs. Miniatures can only carry up to 80lb. This of course depends on the size of the horse. But that is definitely the MAX for a large miniature.
That being said, a mini can pull up to 3 times it's own weight. Please don't mix up the pulling and carrying abilities. I wouldn't want you or the horse to get hurt.

She is definitely not a mini. 33 inches is the tallest height you can have a miniature registered to, so 10 hands is definitely much higher than that. The rule that applies to them is the same that applies to horses which is to a max of 20% of their body weight.

^incorrect. A miniature horse can be up to 38" with the AMHR.
