New pets! *miaow*
My partner came back today with a surprise - two cats from a rescue!
Both desexed, vaccinated, wormed, microchipped. Both indoor cats. One is an older mostly white female cat named Lily, pretty shy, she came from a traumatic experience and was going to be put down this week because no one wanted an older cat, they all wanted kittens. Verdict's out on whether we keep her, only because we're not yet sure whether she'll settle in to our family. The other is a friendly and curious but not overly-crazy male grey tabby kitten (about 3 months old) with four white paws, called Mr Tibbs - he's settled in already!
They join our eight fish (two goldfish, a danio and five barbs) and dog (a daft male AmStaff x goodness-knows-what. We're going to introduce the new additions slowly but they won't have much contact in any case, because the cats will always be inside and the dog only comes in on his leash when he's about to go out for a walk, or when he's getting a bath.
I guess this makes up for not having a horse!*
*Not quite ;)
We need photos!!

Soon as my phone is working again, I'll be snapping away like mad. And probably making memes too :D
Seems that Tibbs is actually Gibbs - I'm so deaf lol. He's a real cutie. Lily is still fifty-fifty - it depends if she settles in or not because we've got a little toddler here and we don't want any scratching. But if she calms down after a few days and feels happy we'll keep her too. Just wanted to give her a chance, it'd be sad to know she was put down at the rescue if we hadn't given her a go.
Here we are! Let me introduce you to...Gibbs!
He's playful but not too boisterous. He doesn't jump onto anything (yet) and puts his claws away like a good boy. He'll follow you around and come when you call him. Very very sweet. Can't believe the last home that adopted him gave him up, but I'm glad they did because now we have him!
Looks like we'll be keeping Lily too - she still mostly hangs out under one of the beds but she's starting to come out more and more often when she thinks nobody is looking. Don't have any photos of her as yet but as soon as I do I will post them!
My partner said he was glad he didn't work at a rescue because he'd end up bringing them all home LOL. Remind me to keep him away from any rescued circus animals, I don't want to come home one day to find an elephant and a tiger in the living room ;-)
Gibbs is adorable!
I'm glad you are planning on keeping Lily. I work at my local shelter and the older cats are generally more skittish just because they've been through some hard times. Once she warms up I'm sure she will settle into your family nicely. :)
I got a 9 year old, just dropped off, female and a one year old " stray" from a kill shelter last year. Took a little longer for them to get used to the new situation and each other, but it worked out. Just spread the attention evenly;-)
Here's Lily! (...finally)
She's very nocturnal but she is becoming more tolerant of people. She hung around in the living room while some friends were over and I found her sitting outside my bedroom door this morning. She hates poor Gibbs, even though he just wants to be friends, but she lets me scratch her now, and will come out when I call.
Gibbs is just adorable. I've been home alone the past two nights while my partner was dog-sitting for his sister, so I could have ended up feeling pretty lonely. But Gibbs ended up snuggling up with me on the couch while we watched TV, then slept next to my head all night. He's such a friendly little kittycat.
She is gorgeous! I love her little black parts on her face.
