Barn staff wages Either as an employer or employee ... what are the going rate of pay for stable help in your area. Are they fair wages? |
When I was just out of high school I was getting paid $9 an hour for stable help at a big farm. I don't know if this is normal or not because they also got $500 to $600 and month for board. |
A high-end barn in my area pays their employees $14/hour plus free board. My barn pays $60/day (for about 5 hours of work, unless other work needs to be done; it's a morning and evening job) |
I was paid $25 for 3 hours of work (min wage was $7.65). I've been looking at jobs out here (min wage $9??) and they pay $600-$700 for jumpers and $700-$900 for race horses per week. |
7-9 an hour seems to be the average around here. |
when i worked on weekends for lessons (there were 3 of us) we got a group lesson (normally $40) and an extra $20 for each weekend 7am-about noon |
I get payed only $7.25/hr and I get reduced board. From $375, I only pay $205 a month. $7.25/hr is VERY low in my area for anything stable/horse related. I think it's minimum wage. I have been working there for over 5 years, so I'm hoping for a raise soon. |
