disasterous show
Well we went to Reeco's first overnight show.
It stated badly as I forgot my shirt and jods so had to turn back and go get them.
it got better when we got there as I got on him and took him round the farm ride, it was 7 miles round glorious cheshire countryside with optional jumps, water jumps and a river crossing. Reeco was an angel and even braved the water and the River crossing (admittedly he launched himself into the river as he wasnt sure what to make of it, but he didnt panic and he walked up the river after that).
he then went into his stable for the night and we sat in the glorious sun and had wine.

Next morning though it all went disasterously wrong. I went and got Reeco from the stable and tied him to the lorry so I could plait him. Went into the lorry to get the grroming box and on the way out missed the top step resulting in me landing on the steps, badly damaging my elbow which is currently twice the size it should be and rather black, it wouldnt move properly for nearly 10 mins (I'll get it checked in the morning) I've also got the most enormous hematoma on my bottom. unfortunatly during my fall I had chucked grooming box in Reeco direction which massivly unsettled him
Still in shock I plaited Reeco up chucked his tack on and started working him in. He was tense but ok untill I put some weight in my outside stirrup resulting in the saddle slideing down his side and I had to bail out.
Reeco of course paniced and bolted (I dont blame him one bit), unfortunatly he galloped straight into a ring rope and got tangled resulting in him ending up on his side, when we got to him he hadthe saddle on his belly and some cuts.
Vet was called and examined him to ensure that he hadnt done anything to his pelvis and nothing more serious than some cuts.
Thankfully he was ok.
We Missed his ridden class. I stuck around and in the afternoon I did the inhand class with him (got a 4th).
Then drove home for 3hrs.
Reeco is currently in a paddock to stop him stiffening up.
I'm headed to a minor injury clinic in the morning as I'm in a lot of pain, but all of it from the lorry fall.

How aweful! I hope that your shoulder heals up and Reeco is aye-ok. I'm glad to hear he wasn't hurt more seriously.

My God! that is awful. I doubt you could have conceived a more harrowing show meet than that if you were writing a fiction.
I do hope your elbow isn't broken (like a bone chip) and the Reeco moves on smoothly. your past show photos show how really nicely he has been coming along. Get better soon.

That's just a terrible series of events. I'm glad neither you nor Reeco was badly hurt.

I blame the wine the night before, that noble rot!

I wish waresbear. It takes a lot more than 2 glasses to have any effect on me.

Went to minor injuries clinic today, They were very concerend about my hip and my elbow as well as the hematoma on my backside.
Had my elbow xrayed as they were sure it would be fractured, thankfully it wasnt. Hip and bottom were poked and prodded (oh the indignity!!) Doctors realy want to keep an eye on it and are concerned that it is still swelling. I've been sent home with heavy duty anti inflams, lots of codiene and instructions to sit on an ice pack for as long as I can as often as I can.

Glad to hear nothing is broken. After you are off the pain meds, you deserve a bottle of wine. That is just horrible luck.

Sorry for your luck, and glad both of you are ok. Sounds like you are deserving of some serious pampering. More than enough justification for perhaps a spay day, or maybe a new bridle or something that you've had your eye on.
