Static Shock
I know there was a thread similar to this a few weeks ago but it doesn't really answer my question...

When blanketing Flynn, mostly when removing the blankets, both of us get really huge shocks. It happens more with his stable blanket and fleece, understandably but I've tried a few methods mentioned in the old thread to no avail. (ie. he stands on rubber mats, dryer sheets, static guard) The static guard helps a bit but only if I use a lot and I don't like spraying my horse with chemicals every time I blanket him.

Now, he is really uncomfortable about getting his blankets taken off and I'd really like to make it a more pleasant experience for him...

Any other ideas?

I have a shocking horse too  I don't blanket but I have trouble when I brush her and have gotten some very painful jolts.
I've tried the dryer sheets like Bounce and they work ok in a pinch. i just rub her all over with one. I've also used a laundry spray called Static Guard that works well but doesn't last long.
The thing I have found to work the best is any oil containing leave in spray. I've even used an oil based fly spray because it was handy.
I have thought of using an olive oil non stick cooking spray like Pam but haven't done it yet :shock:

Hmm... I never thought of Pam.

I've been using static guard for a while but I don't take the blankets off every day and I find it doesn't last unless I spray them every day.

Pam's a good idea I'll let you know if it works. :-)
