- - Sandie's surgery

Some of you are already familiar with Sandie's recent story, but for those who are not, she just had surgery 6 days ago to remove a mass from her left side, right behind her front leg (right where the girth goes). It was sent away to a lab to figure out what the heck it was, and I'm anxiously waiting for those results now :-|
This is a photo of the area they had to shave to cut the lump off, and the stitches that are coming out in 8 days (I was surprised to find that my cream colored Buckskin has black skin apparently!)...it doesn't seem to bother her at all, I think this thing bothers me more than it does her! Still, I feel awful that she's on stall rest for 14 days bc the stitches are in a spot that the vet said frequently gets reopened if you let them out of the stall at all to walk around! http://www.horseforum.com/horses/pho...d41a8_full.jpg
Poor girl :-( I'll keep everyone updated on her status and what the test results come back as!!

Aww poor girl! I'm praying for her results to come back healthy! I know it's tough just hang in there and keep her quiet! Before she knows it she will be out and playing around again. It's for the better for her :)

Thanks guys, I'm hoping for the best! They said results would be back in 10-14 days...today is Day 7 (not that I'm counting or anything!!) :-/

Keeping fingers crossed!! I like your jug idea for her stall. One of ours was on stall rest for three months. One of his favourtie toys was this old snaffle bit. We put a line of twine up with the bit hanging off it up against the wall. He would bang that darn thing for hours......

GOOD NEWS everyone!! Her test results came back and the lump was benign!! :-) In fact, it was a sensitive skin reaction to an insect bite! (prob a spider bite since that's the only creepy crawly alive this time of year where I live!) I'll just need to load up on the fly spray this spring/summer to avoid her getting more lumps like this!
The vet said it would have had to come off anyway because of its location, being right where the girth goes...the girth would not have let it heal...so at least we didn't cut it off for nothing! (PLUS better safe than sorry!) I'm so glad it wasn't anything bad!!!! :-)
Thanks for the prayers & finger crossing everyone!

Great! I'm glad to hear that. It's a big relief I'm sure!!
