Halflinger in Hunter Ring?
I'm usually an eventer and a carriage driver, and I have trained a few hunters in the past but I haven't shown since I was younger.

I'm possibly getting a Halflinger for a resale project this summer and wanted to train him as a children's hunter pony (unless he seems better suited for some other discipline).

I'm not sure how the judges liked the Halflingers though and I wanted some opinions on them for the hunter rings.

Welcome to the forum.. I'm sure there are others better suited to answer your question, I just came for the Haffie pictures *hint hint*

You'll learn quickly that it's ALMOST a sin to post without pictures  even of a possible buy.

IMO a haffie can do the lower level hunters, but you don't see them at rated shows. It really all depends on the movement, the look of the pony, etc. and how strict the judges are in your area regarding 'type'. You might be better to sell the pony as an 'all around' kids' show pony, for someone navigating the lower levels to try a little bit of everything.

Haffie's, as adorable as they are are not your typical hunter. They usually don't have the right movement although the ones I know are super jumpers. That being said, if you're looking for a lower level hunter lots of breeds can do the job even if they aren't considered "fancy". So, if I were in your situation I would see how much of a profit you're looking to make. Why not make him an eventer?

I have to say that the Haffies are some of my favourites... they're so adorable, I just cant get over it  I'd love to have one, and I've seen a couple for sale here over the years but it's NEVER when I'm looking.
