Summer Weight Loss Plan
Okay, So i am going into my Junior year of High School next year. I want to lose alot of weight this summer. Does any one have any ideas that can help me lose weight in a healthy way, but quickly. It has to be affordable. I dont have a job yet, and my mom is a single parent. So not much money. Thanks so much!
There are tons of weight loss programs out there. But the one I recommend is free, and is basically consists of eating 3 meals a day. Eat a well balanced diet, but small portions. Eat some meat, but don't make it the major thing on your plate. Eat lots of veggies, especially if you are still hungry. Eat fruit, even a small desert is ok, as long as it's small. Keep your fat grams no more than 40. No less than 30. You need some fat for your heart and other organs, just not a huge amount. If you loose wt. too fast you can damage your heart - not good. Make sure you exercise. Set up an exercise routine, follow it at least 5 days a week. For about 20 to 30 minutes a day. And start out slow, work up to that amount, don't jump in, you will be toooooo sore to continue! :? It takes time, but after about a month or so, it becomes much easier. The first week or two probably won't see a difference, then you will suddenly see a drop, and then a steady drop. Don't loose more than an average of 1 - 2 lbs. a week, or it can damage your heart. You don't want to live on heart meds for the rest of your life!!! Plus, the wt. you are loosing will actually be more, but you are also building muscle from the exercises, and muscle has wt. It's kind of a trade, but it can be depressing when you look at the scale... Just know, that the wt. is comming off, you just can't see it yet.
Also, when you loose like this, you won't get that "flab" as the skin has a chance to tone up at the same rate you are loosing. And, it is sooo much easier to keep the wt. off. You will be forming better eating habits, and by the time your goal wt. is reached, your way of eating is a habit.
You can have some junk food, just watch the fat grams. If you have trouble with the three meals a day, you can make it 4 meals a day, but cut back on the quantity. Don't skip meals, it's hard on your body, and just makes you that much more hungry when you do eat.
Watch sodas, the diet stuff actually makes it harder to loose wt. and the ones with sugar, well, they have tons of sugar. Try tea, ice or hot. Add a small amt. of sugar if you want too, but also try lemon, or a flavoring instead of a huge amt. of sugar. The tea especially green, black or pekoe tea helps you to loose wt. Again, don't over do it. A couple of cups a day works. Anything overdone, can do harm. Everything in moderation... :D I drank hot or ice tea instead of soda.
If you just can't keep the quantity down without absolutely starving and "caving in," go to the health food store and get some hoodea (sp?) pills. They can help, I don't know how much they cost. But again, take sparingly, only when you really need to. The best way is more veggies, small amts. of meat, small desert, and smaller portions than what you are accustomed to. Start slow, then work smaller. You can could calories if you want too, most people need 1200 calories a day, no more for an "average" ht. person. There are people who are taller, or big boned who need more. Don't deplete what your body needs, just deplete the excess. The wt. will come off.
Hope this helps, and good luck! :D
I once heard Roseann say: "This eat less, move more thing is really workin'."
Just cut down on the sweets and eat good and healthy. Start running, sit ups, and whatever other exerises you like. but I would say running is a big one you should do. drink lots of water. dont drink things with lot of sugar or soda. Good luck!!!!
Well, I'm a nurse, so my "advise" has some medical background. That being said, a person should not start a diet program without seeing a doctor first. (so you don't sue me. )
DesertGal gave a lot of good advise. Do NOT skip meals. If you skip meals, then your body thinks you are starving it and it will slow down your metabolism to "save" you.
Drink lots of fluids. I drink diet sodas, but I also try to drink lots of other fluids too. (Watch out for juices, they have lots of calories except for tomato)
Make sure to have a healthy snack between meals. Carrot sticks, celery, yougert, something low calorie. If you're still hungry, even after a snack, drink a large glass of water. Your body sometimes mistakes thirst for hunger. It gives the brain the same signal.
As for exercise, start off slow. I do NOT recommend running. It is too hard on the joints. Try walking first then as you progress, you can speed up your walking to a faster walk, and increase your length of walk.
I have chronic fatigue syndrome, so I have difficulty in exercising a lot, so I try to do little things. Park my car further away in a parking lot, take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Riding also helps. Especially if your horse is trotting or loping. It is more of an isometric exercise, but if you're not used to it, believe me, you will feel it.
If you can, (get them on sale) try some of the diet frozen foods like lean cusine, or smart ones, or healthy choice. They are calorie controlled and proportionally correct.
Good luck. I have lost 17 lbs in the last 3 months. It is comming off slow, but it is comming off.
One other thing. If you REALLY want something, such as ice cream, or chips, go ahead and have it. Just don't have a lot, and not every day. But, if you deny yourself all the time, you could end up binge eating and that's not good either. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.
If you go here its completely free. You record what you eat and what exercise you do, while they calculate how many calories/carbs...etc you should eat a day, Its a personal log book, Ive found it very helpful!!!!
