new coach, great lesson!
SO. As you lovelies who frequent chat know I started lesson with new coach, same barn, same horse but a new coach. I've only had one lesson with her so far, yesterday. It went GREAT we did a bit of no stirrup work which I did once with my previous coach, to improve my balance and the way I she explained it to me just worked way better for me then any way other people have explained. She asked what was holding me on the horse and I said gravity and balance (ding ding!) said everything from the waist down is held on my gravity and the waist up by balance. Some how that just clicked and with the other things she told me my position just fell into place (practically). I did a line with the jumps closer then I'm used to and it was fine! terrifying but that's part of riding, pushing past fear and crushing your comfort zone. ALSO Lucy spooked, which never happens, it wasn't big one but still pretty out of character for her, I think maybe one of the horse in the stall made a sudden movement or spooked or maybe one of the barn cats jumped up somewhere because she just sorta popped off the rail suddenly.....

also my previous coach was in no way a bad coach, she's great she's very good at what she odes and I'd recommend her to anyone but this coaches style just works better for me

Glad to hear that your lesson went well! :)
Hoping that you continue to learn more and more under the teachings of your new coach.

Kinda wishing I could go back in time to figure out what spooked my lady, it was so strange for her usually she gets distracted by car on the highway when we ride outside and thats about it aside from the odd nervous sideways glance at suspicious object....

another lesson yesterday with the old coach, no spooks, just some over-excitement about jumping silly girl jumped a pile of poles, I was actually looking for a step-over there but Lucy had a lot of energy and well...

So I've had four lessons under the new coach now and I can see SUCH an improvement! I'm so much quieter over jumps, and I've gone from barely 1' verticals to just over a foot! Lucy was wonderful today, aside from being a bit forward but as long as she listens to me and doesn't take off, I don't mind that. Though it seems it's always one or the other with her, she's either foward or lazy, never in between. But that's just cause I'm the only actually making her do anything, the rest of her riders are beginners and she knows she can get away with more with them, me not so much but that doesn't stop her from trying!

a day later and I'm still on the good-ride high! My coach was saying how, far I've come in such a short time and I see and feel it too, usually I can't tell how much I've improved but this time I do and I love it! fingers crossed the next lesson will be just as great!:D
