Quarter Pony or just 1/4 Pony?
I am working with this cute little 4 yr old mare. Her owner got her about 4 weeks ago. She was told she is a "Quarter Pony" Don't know what that means. Is she 1/4 pony and 3/4 something else or is she quarter horse and pony? She is about 13.2 hands and has fine lines like an Arabian or TB. Has anyone heard of a quarter pony? I don't have a picture to post yet.

Typically quarter horse/stock breeds of pony height are called quarter ponies.

Anything under 14 hands is a pony- she can be registered with the aqha but be a 'quarter pony' thats wat i think when someone says 'quarter pony'

In Australia there is a few people that actually breed the quarter horse down so they are around the 14hh for kids and what not or they cross the quarter horse with a pony breed like Riding ponies or welsh.

This is our QP (quarter pony). She's a bred down quarter horse, most a likely pony in her breeding.
I know lots of cow horses that are 14.3 hands and they are highly desirable.
Our pony sticked at 55 3/8"

Here's my friends (I have her permission to post) quarter pony stud, it was his first time being ridden since last summer, so he was full of it to say the least. He's a blast to ride and has a full size horse 'tude vs a pony "I'm royalty" attitude. I kind of consider them like POA's, if they're bred right, they're just party size horses instead of king size.
