I need a half pad for my high withered OTTB mare, until she gets some more top line built up, and for comfort in general because she has a sensitive back. I've ridden in a mattes and she L O V E D it, but i don't have that kind of money to spend on one of my own:?

Can anyone recommend a brand that does the job, holds up well, and looks nice ( kind of like this)

but isn't as pricey? I've got about $100 to spend a the top end of my budget.

I've heard great things about engel half pads, I've never personally seen one, but every time someone says they need a half pad on a budget they are recommended. engel half pad | eBay

I love the Thinline trifecta half pads. I recently saw the white ones on sale at Dover for $139.

I LOVE my Thinline pad. My saddle fitter who is anti half pads or anything beyond a simple thin saddle pad loves them as well.

This is the one I have

i second this! also, unless they've changed their source, the thinline halfpads are made with Engels sheepskin so that's something. i've had engels half pads as well as they were by far nicer than any of the budget half pads (roma, etc).

I love that you can put shims in them for horses that are developed more on one side than the other.

I don't use a half-pad, but my barn is full of Thinlines and everyone loves them.

Engels are awesome! Plush and high quality, and they look like the picture you posted. Have heard good things about Thinline as well.

I'm another thin line fan! They last forever, pricey, but well worth it. Whenever I see one on CL I'm scoop it up, even if I dont' need it. I know one day, I will.
