Painted Brushes, would you buy it?
So like most human beings, I need some extra cash. I've done the ebay thing, I've tried consignment shops, but once you've sold what you need to sell, you're finished. For Christmas I bought little jewelry boxes to paint for my friends/family and after I had done a few of those, on a whim I went out to the tack shop and bought a cheap brush to mess around on. This is what I came up with-

I'm working on a black and neon pattern too, but I was overall impressed with the white one! I brought it to my barn to get some opinions, and one girl just flat out told me to make her one... but I think that I could actually make some money off of this.

So, as horse people if you saw this online (in a store or on ebay), or in a tack shop, would you buy it?

side note; I looked around online and couldn't find any company or website that sold painted brushes... so there's not much competition!

If I had money to buy cool things I would probably buy one. I think it's a pretty cool idea! I bet you'd get quite a few buyers. You could even sell like sets or something that has all the brushes, all matching...

Good idea. =)

you could do currys too.

Thanks guys!

The only hard thing about this whole thing is finding brushes that aren't engraved. I'm pretty sure I could get around a hand strap or something, but brand names engraved into the wood is hard to cover up. xD

Curries would be a cool idea too! Do they make ones that would be practical to paint though? The one that I have is all rubber.

I would buy them, no one else would take them and if they did I could be like Hey! Give me my brush back!

i think that you have a good idea and i think that you did a great job on the brush that you showed everyone but i must be honest, I would NOT buy one if i was given the option. Your brushes always get dirty and are thrown in a grooming box and left in the weather at shows etc - I dont spend any more then i MUST on these types of items as they are exspendable and get replaced often. BUT i am sure there is plenty of people out there that would like one - is the time and energy that you put into making one worth the VERY SMALL profit that you could possibly make per brush???? Good luck with it though.

I agree with I Love Lane.

My brushes dont last very long. You did a good job painting them though. I would buy one if I looked after my brushes better or I would keep it in my room and admire it from the distance. Good idea!

Just as an added touch, I would suggest Laquering.

Maybe offer to personalize brushes for people - names, images of their horses?
