Help with CD buring - error 4280
Last night I tried to burn an audio CD with itunes to play in my car. I put a blank cd in and pressed burn and after a minute or two an error message came up saying unknown error 4280.
I tried burning just straight from windows, like music in a file in documents, and it says it cannot format disc and cannot burn. I've tried different discs and none of them work. I've looked in my settings and it all looks like it should work.
I looked on Google and it seems that it is a reasonably common problem, but I couldn't find any solutions. Does anyone know what I could do? I'll wipe my computer if it doesn't get better, but I don't want to do that because I have like 100GB of stuff I want to keep.
I am running Vista on a Toshiba.
Which itunes version are you using?
Which CD/RW or DVDRW are you using?
Did you run itunes under Admin rights option?
Here is what I found under itunes website. Please let me know if this is not the case.
If you attempt to burn a disc in iTunes for Windows using a Sony CD-RW/DVD CRX830E model drive, you may get the following alert: The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4280)
If you get this error in iTunes and you are using a Sony CD-RW/DVD CRX830E drive, you can make a small change to one configuration file to resolve the issue.
To find out if you have a Sony CD-RW/DVD CRX830E model drive:

You can also try the following from the HP link
When using iTunes for Windows, resolve the Error: The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4280)
However before going through all this I would suggest to update your itunes if it hasn't been done.
If however you don't have Sony CDRW/DVDRW then I would suggest to change your burning speed from MAX to slower rate 16x or 4x. This should resolve the issue.
