Blowing my own trumpet ;)
Sorry folks but I'm so excited that I need to have a little session of blowing my own trumpet before I bounce so high that I end up through the ceiling
I applied for the police force nearly 18 months ago, and it has been a HUGE process, extremely tedious, lots of interviews, exams and assessments just to even get considered. Due to government budget cutbacks, the recruitment of police in the state has gone from 300+ recruits/year, to under 100. Thus, it's BLOODY hard to get in!!!!
I finally completed my final recruitment examination 4 weeks ago, and have been sitting back twiddling my thumbs, not sleeping, and constantly staring at my phone for the whole time since then  A week ago, they called and told me that the June course had filled up, but funding has been given for an extra course this year, so I may have a look in for one in September.
Well well well!!! On Friday, I got a call from recruiting to advise me that someone had just dropped out of the June course, to start this Thursday, and that I am next on the list to get in. Out of well over 1000 applicants :shock::shock:
HELL YES! So, as of Thursday, I will be a police cadet! My art business will have to fall by the wayside for the duration of my training, as will my riding, but it's well worth it :D
Yay Kayty! Congrats!
Yay congrats! I also work in law enforcement and it is a blast!! Have fun!!

not nessisarily, u could join mounted police:)
As one cop to another.....you'll love it. While it has its unpleasant moments, the overall satisfaction of being a positive influence on your community makes it all worth it.
I well remember all of the obstacles one has to get over to qualify for this job. Better that than allow unfit people into a job that can so easily be abused.
Congrats! I know how hard you've worked & how bad you wanted it, well deserved!

my childhood dream was to become a police officer, started from when a cop came to my mums house, and i asked the cop if i could hold his gun, of course i got a NO and got to wear his hat, i felt king of the world lol
Congratulations Kayty!! That is fantastic. Please keep us updated on your recruit training, I would love to hear about it! I plan to apply to my city's police service hopefully within a year (yay getting fit and finishing school) and I hear that around here it's becoming more and more difficult to get in - classes aren't filling even with 100's of applicants and they're recruiting out of province because of it - so I'll soon understand what you're saying about how difficult it is to get in!!
It's a heck of a process to get into the police so huge congratulations, you must be over the moon!
