- - Bad Instructor
|HorseLoverAmz ||06-24-2013 11:58 AM |
So I have lessons weekly at a nearby riding school every Saturday. My instructor used to be really good and I was progressing a lot in my riding but lately it's changed completely. There is a group of adult riders early in the morning and then three children's lessons. I'm in the first lesson and she doesn't focus on us at all. She gives a few comments to the really bad riders but I haven't had a comment on my riding for ages. I'm probably moving stables later this year but am wondering how I can improve my riding for the time being. Thanks

I would suggest trying to switch your lesson times until you move. Or talk to the instructor about your frustration. Maybe she can put you in a lesson with more advanced riders, or you could ride a more challenging horse? Get someone to video tape you riding and watch yourself. Listen to everything the instructor says to other people and think about applying it to yourself if applicable. Read tons of books, watch videos of good riders you'd like to emulate, ask older riders for advice in your riding.
Good luck, I know how frustrating your situation can be.

She's not paying attention to any of you? Mind me asking what it is she is doing while she stands in the middle of the ring watching?

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I'm already in the most advanced lesson of the day. At the moment I'm learning by reading and talking to my horsey friends. @xJumperx she doesn't even stand in the arena, she sits at the bench above it and has a smoke and a big fat chat. Coincidentally, every time the stable manager comes on Saturday(she usually only comes in the week), my instructor get much better...:think::-x

And you're still paying for this non-service because??? Find new instructor, plain and simple. Why waste your money on someone who is clearly not providing you a service?
