Showing Livestock

I've never known the pleasure of showing horses, but judging by the magnitude in which I LOVE them, I bet I'd love it. However, I do show hogs. I've never won much but my class, but today I'm hoping that I'll win my breed, and also showmanship. I'm pretty great at showmanship, but there is this guy in my FFA chapter that beats everyone. :P

Does anyone else show? Next year I'm going to show a goat.

Pics of my Hog coming soon :D

The most I have seen other than your typical equestrian shows were draft classes at the Stampede. Those classes involved halter classes, 1-16+ driving teams, and various other confo classes. I've never actually sat down to watch anything else tho those draft ones I watched during the summer were a blast. You could feel them trotting right into the bleachers . A lot more presence than your typical horse :D

How did your show go???

I have shown sheep, chickens, beef cattle, dairy cattle, goats, ducks, rabbits, and horses... I won the all around showmanship award one of my last years in 4-H (it was were you showed someone elses animal with dairy, beef, pigs, goat, sheep, and horse)

it was fun with the horse because "non" horse people didnt realize that there was a showmanship patteren involved.

Show went well! My Duroc got reserve breed (meaning she was the second-best duroc at the show) and my Hamp, which my 4y/o brother showed won his class I believe! :D He won Peewee shoemanship and I got second in senior showmanship XD I still need to scan in pics of us in the 'winners circle', but until then, this is us showing(plz excuse the bad photography, my grandma just learned what a digital camera was:D):

I show horses. And I will until something forces me to stop. I like it, I like don't care for showmanship, but I like halter and the riding classes.

When I was in Middle School into High School, my entire family showed sheep. I loved it!!! We showed Dorsets. When things get back to normal in my life, I want to raise sheep again, particularly for 4-H and FFA.

Sheep are interesting to show, though I prefer goats :D
