Mister for extreme heat?
I was wondering if anyone uses a mister of any kind on their barns such as outside the stall door to exit into the pasture? Is this is a good idea or not? My horse has free run from her stall in the barn out into her pasture which has plenty of trees but were having a heat wave of 105-110 all week and I'm just wondering if maybe this would be helpful for her? She tends to spend alot of time in the stall with eher head sticking out looking into her pasture. thanks :)

A big fan, a Walmart box fan will keep the air moving. If she perspires in the heat, the fan will cool her. Horses will often move to the top of a hill to catch breezes. Just be sure she has a cup of loose salt and cool fresh water. Don't rely on a lick to provide her with enough salt during this heat. Household salt is fine or you may pick up a box of the coarser pickling salt and mix them.

I have friend who uses them. She likes them. We don't use them because they are a lot of upkeep and then there's the expense of the extra water.
