Colonial Spanish Horses
Does anyone have a Spanish Mustang (not BLM mustang), Indian horse, marsh tacky, or by any other name a Spanish Colonial Horse. I've got my girl Wakiya 3 years old and true to type. Can work all day without being shod run 100 miles without tiring and do it again by morning. These horses don't need grain, come in every color, and are smarter, have a different personality than modern breeds. This horse hasn't changed since the 1600s. Anyone?

I have heard that but I find it alittle too much like bragging from the Soanish Mustang Association. But at the same time, it might be true if a peach of salt or two.

Yeah, and it's breeding stock is just a couple of horses from one area, so they're terribly inbred too. ;)
Not to knock anyone, but you can't say one breed is so much better then every other one. And if they could '100 miles without tiring', then they'd be winning all the endurance rides instead of the Arabs, lol!
They are a pretty horse though, when carefully managed and bred.

This is the kind of ignorance we get all the time. Seriously the ratio of Arab to CS is rediculous. They're also at least 4000 they're not inbred. They aren't from one area either. Before you call someone's horse something. Do some research, dear.

Wow...that got ugly surprisingly fast.

I'm sorry on my part if that sounded harsh

I don't think your part sounded harsh at all wakiya, some others need to become better-informed before they say things like that.....it's too bad people have to say bad things about certain breeds....and the Spanish horses and mustangs, etc., always seem to get a bad rap from people who do not even know a thing about them..... They aren't any more in-bred than a lot of these purebred show horses we see in the show arena these days.
But, anyway....a friend of mine has a Mustang, he loves his Mustang colt. They're great horses and they really do have tougher hooves, and are just really nice horses.

lol I didn't say anything bad about them, dear. I said that they are not the bestest horse ever just because the association says so. Anyone who loves Arabs thinks they have the best horse, QHs, Paints... etc. Horses are really an 'each-to-their-own' thing.
And of course Arab's out number every breed in endurance races, but if another breed was better they'd still win when entered. ;) Arab's have been selectively bred for endurance for 100s of years--they win for a pretty good reason.

My mother used to have a mustang and she said that she could just call her name without the mare being in sight and the mare would come galloping at full speed to her. She also said they had the most unique connection that she has ever had in any other horse. I will admit that i've always found this breed the most interesting, it's like they have so much knowledge when you look in there eyes. It's probably just me though!

i don't dislike Spanish Horse breeds at all, I am just find those statements in the opens post alittle hard to believe but it might be true. i would love to see proove not provided by the Spanish Mustang Assocation or similar breed one. If that was said about QH, I would want proof, and not from the AQHA.
