Given an old, moldy Aussie saddle should I keep it? Info needed..
My friend gave her horse up and she had this Aussie saddle. It was sitting out at the barn so its got mold on it now. But I would only use it for trail riding so I just dont need it but if I got it all cleaned up what would you pay for it?

Aslo any info on this type of saddle?

Not the best pics I will take new ones once I get it cleaned up.

Honestly, not much. From the photos it looks like an old Marshall Poley, a really cheap and nasty saddle. They are heavy and clunky, and often don't fit very well. I could be wrong, see if you can locate a brand or makers amrk anywhere, but to me it looks like one of the many cheap stock saddles that are produced.

I wasnt able to find a brand name, all I could find was a number stamped in the inside.

But here it is all clean an NO mold, wooo took a lot of elbow grease.

I think I might just list it on CL and see how it does, other wise theirs a tack swap coming up... I dont know. Should I just list a number or say "Make Offer"

it looks a little like an old aussie i have. mine is from outback saddlery though. you could probably list it for around 150 on craigslist or put it on ebay. I have sold a lot of saddle that didnt fit on ebay. I wouldnt use it unless you are sure the leather is still good and it fits your horse well though.

Im pritty sure the leather is still good. The saddle was used on an arab. I just dont think it will really fit my mare shes so hard to fit any ways. Thanks for giving a number I will try it and see what responses I get.

It will sell for more over there than it would here in Australia, because lots of people haven't seen a good quality stock saddle to compare. A friend is trying to sell a saddle nearly exactly the same but in much newer condition for 60 and had no calls. But you could probably get 100/150 over there.

I listed it on CL first as 150 got no response and now is at MAKE OFFER or trade for a newer/new turnout blanket. Cause thats what I really need my poor mare I borrowed a cooler and when I took it off of her her face was just sooooo sad and pathetic like "Hey! wait a minute I was nice and warm." She had to of been sleepin in the cross ties, well she had that sleepy look on her face. Im also asking for more horse at work stupid bills! SO I just really need to sell this saddle. At least I got it for free :)

Its got a nice wide gullet which are sometimes hard to get in stock saddles.
I bought an old one off ebay for $150 AUD its in good knick (even with the mould that is currently on it) and about 35 years old but has no brands on it. However, definately australian made and not indian leather.

How could you tell if its not indian leather?
