My Gelding Has an Odd Lump on His Stomach
My 8 year old half Draft gelding has a small lump on the side of his stomach. We have had him for 2 years and he has never had anything like this before. We think it might be a bug bite, but are not sure. Should we have the vet out to check, even if it is a bug bite?
Need pics to even give you a guess.
As far as calling out the vet goes, is it hard or soft? Is it hot or cold? Hard and hot would be comparatively bad and cool and soft wouldn't be anything I'd worry about. Pictures would help. I wouldn't call the vet out yet, though, since the lump is relatively small and there don't seem to be any other symptoms.
If you're unsure, it's never a bad idea to go ahead and have the vet check it out. Better safe than sorry.
For any of us to give you even a little bit of an idea, like Ware said, we'd need some good pictures of it.
Does it seem like it's sore?
My gelding got a lump on his underbelly the size of about 2x3 inches. Even though I spray for bugs, they have been bad. He has never had this so, I am thinking something bit him but good. I felt it and it was soft, he didn't seem to mind me touching it. I gave it 2-3 days and sure enough the swelling is going down.
Length of time, feel of the lump-soft or hard and hot or cold like previously mentioned.
