Advice Needed on Training Older Horses.
I have a 16 yr. old Paint cutting horse.I got him about 3 years ago as a gift from one of my dads clients(he is a horse vet).I ride English but, my horse is a western cutting horse, what I'm getting to here is I'm trying to decide if I should try to teach him english or just buy different horse?

I guess it depends what level you want to go to and what your time line is and what your bond with this horse is like and what finances are like ...
IMO, you could train this guy to go english. He will have a great attention span. What have you been doing with him for the past 3 years if you ride English? Have you been riding him at all?

I would go ahead and give it a shot before just moving on to a different horse. He may end up being a phenomenal english mount. Although, if he is cutting bred, he is probably not very tall. Give him a chance before you pass him up. If he doesn't work for what you want or you don't get along, then you may look into selling him.
