large bulge near abdamin! HELP!!!

My 28 yr. old arab/quarter horse gelding seems to
have a larger bulge are his abdomin area. It has become a little bit tender but he still is walking
fine. He is starting to eat slowly- so we considered he might have a hernia- but it feels like muscle.
I am very worried about my boy, do you have any suggesttions to what it might be?

Please help me:-|

Contact your vet ASAP. If it is a hernia, the bowel could strangulate resulting in emergency surgery - or worse.

Okay thank you, the vet is going up tomorrow so I hope he will be alright...

Is he a gray? Grays get chronic cancer in the form of what you have just described

I found a large bulge on T's abdomen once. Called my vet and after describing it and her behavior, he told me it sounded liked a pulled ab muscle. Hot packed it 2 x's a day for 3 to 4 days and was all better. Hope yours isn't serious , keep us posted please and good luck!

Did the vet explain how a heart problem could result in an abdominal bulge?
