I am a new rider could you please give me some basic tips? :)
I would really appreciate it. :)

Can you be a bit more specific?
There is a thread here ( top of the page ) called New to Horses... that would be a good place to start...

Sorry, your question is too vague. Tell us a bit about what you know, what experience you have, what you are currently learning and mostly anything that you have specific questions about or problems with.

I want to know more about riding. :)

OK. That is not helpful. Do you ride now?

... if not, read a book...

You should always be relaxed when on or around a horse.

Never curl up or brace. Stretch your legs down and your torso up.

Don't yank the horse around, instead use your legs to direct the horse where to go.

Always start with the lightest pressure (no matter the horse's past behavior), and increase until you get a response.. then take pressure away.

Heels down, eyes up (and head up), sit up tall shoulders back, keep a bend in your elbow and your hands low. And relax!

I'm not really sure how to answer your question, but that's about as basic as it can get. There's a lot to know about riding and your question is very vague. Even the elaboration on the original question is vague.

Do you want to know how to get a horse ready to ride (grooming and tacking up)? Do you need to know how to get on a horse or get them to stand still to get on them (mount them)? Do you want to know how to get the horse to move forward and back up? Steering? Slowing down? How to jump? We need more info in order to answer your question properly.

Skyseternalangel: Thanks :)

Raven13: I want to know more about positioning of the trot, canter, and jumping. :)

Breathe! Relax. Listen to your instructor. And don't worry if you don't get it right away.
